I'm writing this to inform people about refunds from paypal.
At the beginning of this year my partner bought a phone from a seller on ebay. The phone arrived but was damaged in the post. We emailed the seller who said that if we were to send the phone back he would inspect it and either replace it or give us a full refund. So we sent the phone back and waited. After about a week we hadn't heard anything so decided to email the sller again. He said he had received the phone and would post a new one out within a few days. Again we waited but no phone. We emailed again and he said he had been busy but would post in a few days. Still nothing. We waited and sent email after email to the seller but got no reply and no phone. After some time we decided that the phone was not going to come so opened an item not received dispute with ebay and paypal. Again the seller did not respond so we asked for a refund. What we didn't know is that after all the times the seller said he would post in a few days but never did our time had run out with paypal to ask for a refund as they only allow something like 45 days after the auction end to give a refund. We had applied for a refund outside of the 45 days. We emailed paypal and they said they would look into it. Eventually we received an email from paypal saying that we were not entitled to a refund because of 2 reasons. Firstly we had received the phone in the first place within the stated time and secondly we were clearly outside of the 45 day limit. Paypal basically said that it was our fault for sending the phone back in the first place.
To this day (about 7 months or more after this happened) we have still never received the phone or a refund, and have not heard from the seller at all. We paid

Buying a Mobile Phone?
Buying a Mobile Phone on Ebay these days is an absolute minefield!
The obvious ones to look out for are the nigerians with an auntie abroad who wants the phone and they offer to pay direct into your bank, somtimes even offering more than your buy it now price!
Then there are the phones that are brand new and 'unlocked'. Most legal phones bought into the uk are sim locked, if they have been unlocked then they have been tampered with, do you know what youre getting? Sealed unlocked phones are often very very dodgy.
So you've found your perfect phone, when it arrives check a few things, is it EXACTLY the one in the picture? A common trick is to claim an insurance loss, photgraph the new insurance replacment and send the old one out. The problem with this (other than the fact youre not getting the advertised item) is that the phones are then being blocked by the network after the insurers tell them its been stolen or lost. This can take weeks, long after you've paid your hard earned cash.
Check that the IMEI number matches the code on the box, the IMEI is a serial number, often found under the battery or by dialling star,hash,06, hash, if the number doesnt match the box then its possible the phone is stolen and the box belongs to another handset.
Also dial: star,hash,0000,hash (without the commas), this will show you a) the software version, but most importantly b) the manufacture date of the handset. From this you can tell if the phone really is three weeks old or more like a year and three weeks with a new facia! (This may not work on all phones)
Finally if a new buyer with a seemingly english name wins your phone, check their paypal account is in the same name and not a nigerian name. A problem im having right now is a buyer who made an offer on my N70 which i accepted, he's a new buyer registered in Bedfordshire but has paid form his 'uncles' paypal account, the account holders name is nigerian, assuming this is all legitimate he further insists on collecting the phone, 100 miles to buy a second hand phone??? This is so he isnt traceable when paypal close the fraudulent account and take their money back off you leaving you with no phone and no cash.
Follow these steps and youre doing okay, if you have any problems threaten to issue small claims application which will incurr an automatic cost of

Dont do it!!! It will only get your listing/s removed : )In my experience, I have listed something on ebay, written a few keywords in the title (which relate to the item for sale) and have had the listing removed. I got charged for the fees for doing it too. It was something really simple, and didnt deserve to be done. I think a warning before the listing gets removed would be very fair. Found it very harsh after spending a huge amount of time listing something for sale, then only for the listing to be deleted completely off in the ebay!!!!!Not good at all. My advice, be careful what you put in your titles/descriptions!Cant work out the rules on Part Exchange or Swapping either yet?Something else that annoys a lot of users, I have had, and seen listings get removed for saying things like "This item is advertised elsewhere" or "Seller reserves the right to end listing early" (well not before ebay does it for you!!!)Just a notice so that people are made aware. Take it however you want!!!I just hope that this guide page helps you out and stops your listing from getting deleted completely off in the ebay!!!
